Market Square! Behind me is the Bell Tower. Steve and I were chagrinned (that's one word for it) to learn Brugge doesn't offer many late-night food options. Now, we didn't miss the neon diner lights of home. But after all those excellent Belgian brews (most weighing in at 8 to 12% alcohol), we were desperate for some post-pub munchies.

Luckily, we found a local (maybe the bartender; I don't remember) who told us about the "chips" stand in Market Square that serves up Belgian fries after hours. The stand was just a greasy lunch wagon on wheels, but we didn't care. We each got an unreasonably large, heart-stopping bucket of fries, which we devoured while seated on one of the benches you see here. It was hardly fancy, but sitting in the middle of this historic city with my bud, consuming massive carbs after gourmet beers, and staring up at the bell tower, it was perfect.
