Perfect new snow. Intense sky. Strong, interesting lighting. Complete silence and solitude. It was one of those rare moments when you feel completely, unreservedly inspired and free. I could have screamed and jumped for joy (maybe I did). I knew I’d hit a photographic mother lode. Every direction and vantage point offered new treasures. I couldn't shoot photos fast enough. I probably used a half a roll of film before taking my first breath (these photos are pre-digital). I shot wildly, as if the sun was scheduled to fall directly out of the sky in five minutes, never to return. Finally, I calmed down enough to realize I might have just a bit more time than that.
