These photos are unfair to magnificent Drottningholm Palace, residence of the Swedish royal family. We visited it briefly on a cold and dreary January afternoon. Since I was flying back to Houston the next day, I wasn't focused. My photographic efforts here were, honestly, lame.

Originally built in the 16th Century, Drottningholm burned down in 1661. Construction began the following year on the current Palace (about the same time they started building Versailles, in France). It was completed in 1682. In the 1750s and 1760s, a theatre and Chinese pavilion were added at the request of Queen Lovisa Ulrika, who apparently wasn't satisfied with a shopping spree at Saks.
