What is it? This is a super macro photo of a common leaf on a common tree in a common front yard. It was shot with a Lensbaby (at f/2.8, for those interested), with a couple macro/close-up diopters stacked on the lens. With a setup like this, only small a fraction of the photo will be in focus. The Lensbaby adds additional blur of its own on the edges. I was probably two or three inches away from the leaf, and just moved the camera back and forth until I got the desired portion in focus. This is what I saw through the camera when I made the photo.

You will see more images like this among my Torsö files. They’re quite different from my usual work, and are almost surreal. But unless otherwise noted, I have not manipulated them in any way, except to make the usual adjustments for exposure, contrast, cropping, etc. (which always are required when you shoot in RAW format).
