Arizona Highway 89A offers one of the most beautiful drives in the United States, or anywhere in the world. The segment shown here lies between Sedona and Flagstaff. The hairpin bends are part of the 2,500-foot gain in elevation between Sedona and the Oak Creek Vista Campground, from where this photo was taken. It’s a beautiful setting, but don’t linger too long. You’ve got another 2.5 hours’ drive to the South Rim entrance of the Grand Canyon.
