We had done some reconnaissance the day before, and thought this spot would provide good morning light. We arrived before sunrise and were well rewarded for skipping breakfast. These magnificent cliffs (part of Vermilion Cliffs National Monument) are impressive, even from a distance. But getting "up close and personal" with several hundred feet of vertical rock really puts you in your place.
